Ubisoft’s latest Assassin’s Creed installment has all gamers from all over the world hanging on the edge of their seats… I mean couch! Assassin’s Creed 3 is the latest of Ubisoft’s action/adventure game that lets you stalk, climb, and ultimately, assassinate historical baddies with your hidden blade! I have always been such a huge fan of the series (even for a girl, LOL) not because of the fights and the assassinations, but because of the story and the rich history that’s been incorporated within the game storyline. And oh, there are the spectacular sights and sceneries that await every time you reach the top of a really tall structure.
Ubisoft promises that Assassin’s Creed 3 is “larger” than the two previous Assassin’s Creed games, so I am really excited to get my hands on my own Xbox 360 copy. But out of curiosity, I did some research with regards to the player character, his weapons, explorable towns, dungeons and other cool stuff that I can find about the game. Apparently, the main character is Connor, a young man on a mission of vengeance. Born out of a British colonist father and a Native American Indian mother, he’s trained in the ways of the Assassin in order to hunt down those who were responsible for the death of his parents. It’s the 1700’s, the 13 Colonies in America have revolted against their British masters along the way, and Connor somehow gets swept into the founding of a nation. So all in all, you get a taste of historical lessons and you get to kill a few Redcoats as well.
Connor – Purely Outdoors
Connor’s not like Altair or Ezio Auditore, he’s rugged and a certified lone wolf. He climbs and jumps trees and mountains like they were his playground. He moves around bushes and hides until his prey arrives. All in all, Ubisoft have designed Connor to be the ultimate Assasin and the only way to properly explain his own set of actions is because of his Native American heritage.
Connor’s Assassin uniform is unique as well. It sports the traditional clothing of the 1700’s with an overflowing blue scarf on his torso. Perhaps Ubisoft designed this since red is usually a color attributed to the British Regulars back in the Wars for Independence. But nevertheless, it’s simple yet dashing.
Connor relies on his knife, flintlock pistols, rope, and his trusty bow and arrow. Of course, let’s not forget his nasty tomahawk. I personally believe that the tomahawk is one nasty piece of melee weapon, as I have heard stories of Native American Indians waging their wars with tomahawks when I was a little girl. Not only that, Connor is also able to do multiple takedowns, musket combinations, chain kills and double counters, making Assassin’s Creed 3 fight scenes amazing than ever!
When I saw this in Ubisoft’s official Assassin’s Creed 3 site, I could hardly believe it. Apparently, Connor has the ability to pilot his own ship, which they aptly named the Aquila. Perhaps it’s another tribute to Altair, the very first Assassin within the franchise. This pits players into maritime battles against gigantic British war ships within stormy weather! I can hardly wait!
Other tidbits I got were that Ubisoft was also keeping the stronghold defense of Assassin’s Creed 2: Brotherhood, the Assassin Tombs and a whole slew of dungeons and places to explore. Those who pre-order the game are actually given free goodies through a free downloadable add-on, which is a Mayan temple in which you can explore and the deadly saw-tooth blade. I already pre-ordered mine, so if I were you, I’d get it before October 30 hits!
Well, that’s all there is to it! Pre-order today and have loads of fun playing when Assassin’s Creed 3 goes out in October 30!
