Tips for Dealing with Apps and Icons in an Android Phone

You are never going to convince a staunch Apple supporter to switch to an Android phone, and you will not be able to convince an Android aficionado to try a taste of Apple no matter how hard you try. Still, there are the outliers, the ones who do make the switch for whatever reason. If you are getting a smartphone for the first time, then you have to make a decision about which one you are going to choose. If you decide to try an Android phone, it will be good to have a few tips and tricks under your belt for when you first start using your device.

Uninstalling an App

One of the best things about smartphones is the fact that you are going to be able to use apps with them. People love the Marketplace, where they will be able to view all of the various apps in a host of different categories. While it is easy to find an app that you might like, it’s not always easy to know how to get rid of it. You might find that it is simply not as useful or as fun as you had hoped. Fortunately, it is not too difficult to remove them.

You will just have to tap the All Apps icon on the tray and then select the Apps tab. You just have to touch and hold the icon of the application that you want to remove. Then, you will drag and drop the icon for the app to the Uninstall icon. The phone will then ask you if you are sure that you want to uninstall. Click OK and the app is gone. Another way to remove apps is to go into Settings, click on Apps under Device, and then choose the application that you want to remove.

Rearranging the Icons

You will be able to rearrange the icons that you have on your home screen quite easily as well. You simply have to touch and hold any of the icons on your screen, which will let you then move them to another spot simply by dragging them to another area of the screen. You could even drag them to or from the tray. You could drag an icon to either side of the screen until it slides to a new screen, and then drop the icon there.

If you’ve never used a smartphone before, you will find that it can be a bit intimidating at first. You should get up to speed before too long though.
